Abstract:	This text analyses the decisive period for Latin in Brazil — the second half of the 20th century — following the legal requirements stipulated in the 1ª Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação Nacional (LDB). It also discusses the early days of Latin in the country at the beginning of the century and explores issues relating to the emergence of new teaching materials. Este texto analisa o período decisivo para o latim no Brasil, a segunda metade do séc. XX, após os dispositivos legais decorrentes da 1ª Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação Nacional (LDB). Discute ainda os primeiros momentos do latim no país no início deste século e apresenta questões relacionadas à emergência de novos materiais didáticos.
