Abstract: Carolyn Creedon’s poetry has been acclaimed mainly for her frankness in dealing with themes and motifs of daily life. “Litany”, one of her most beautiful poems, is a good example, once it candidly describes her experience as a waitress. But Creedon’s rare command of poetic language suggests that we should reconsider the traditional dichotomy between the “lyrical I” and the “biographical I”, or between being and making believe.
