Impressões do sensível: elos entre literatura e estética

Abstract

Abordar as relações entre a Literatura e a Estética implica reconhecer a complexidade do objecto da Estética enquanto disciplina e perceber o caminho que conduziu à autonomia da Literatura como domínio artístico. Neste sentido, revisitar-se-á o processo de afirmação quer da Literatura quer da Estética e mostrar-se-á a complexidade do objecto de estudo da Estética, o carácter múltiplice dos seus domínios e os variegados aspectos e elementos de que se compõe. Serão salientadas as noções, os conceitos e os valores estudados pelos estetas que revelem ser de grande contributo para o estudo da obra de arte literária. Por seu turno, abordar-se-ão os contributos dos poeticistas, das reflexões metaliterárias apresentadas por várias correntes da Teoria da Literatura para o estudo do fenómeno artístico e, em geral, do fenómeno estético. Sublinhar-se-á a importância da investigação de Gérard Genette nomeadamente as suas distinções relativas aos regimes da obra de arte, as suas reflexões sobre os predicados estéticos (com a sua particular pregnáncia técnica no caso das obras de arte) e ainda a sua importante destrinça entre relação estética e relação artística. Apontar-se-á a relevância do literário para a compreensão dos sistemas de modelização secundaria que caracterizam a configuração articulada dos dominios artísticos dependentes dos seus códigos próprios e das convenções específicas. Questionar-se-á, por fim, a capacidade cognitiva da Literatura e a sua relevância para o modo como ela se relaciona com o mundo contemporáneo onde a Arte desempenha um papel crucial.

The approach between Literature and Aesthetics implies the recognition of the object aesthetics as a discipline and the understanding of the path that led to the autonomy of Literature as a scientific domain. Consequently, the process of affirmation of Literature and of Aesthetics will be revisited and the complexity of its object will be demonstrated, as well as the multiple profile of its domains and the innumerous aspects and elements which constitute it. The notions, the concepts and the standards studied by the aesthetes - which are relevant to the study of the work of literary art - will be highlighted. On the other hand, we will approach the contribution of poeticists and metaliterary meditations presented by various streams of Literary Theory for the study of artistic phenomenon, and, in general, of the aesthetic phenomenon. We will also emphasize the eminent research of Gérard Genette, namely his distinctions concerning the regimens of the work of art, his reflections on the aesthetic predicates (and their particular technical impression, in the case of the works of art) and also his important distinction between the aesthetical relationship and artistic relationship. The relevance of the literary to the comprehension of the secondary modelling systems which characterize the configuration that is articulated in the artistic domains which depend on their own codes and specific conventions. Finally, we will question the cognitive capacity of Literature and its relevance to the way it deals with the contemporary world where the role of Art is crucial.
