Cinema e Portugal: não reconciliados

Abstract

O tema quer ser o ponto de partida para a problematização e discussão da existencia de uma relação causal entre o cinema e a nação. Isto é, quer interrogar a identidade da nação que o cinema fornece a essa nação e também saber até que ponto a nação se constitui como identidade desse cinema. Dito de outro modo, quer questionar a existência de um cinema nacional, distinto de outros cinemas nacionais pela sua reiterada referência à nação ou da existência de uma nação que o cinema enforma. Vem interpelar também o tema do cinema nacional em Portugal. A própria ideia de nação aparece como problemática na actual conjuntura portuguesa.

The subject aims to be the starting point for the discussion of the existent causal relationship between cinema and nation. It is our goal to interrogate what national identity cinema offers to the nation, as well as to know to what extent the nation constitutes itself as the identity of cinema. In other words, we want to question the existence of a national cinema, diverse from other national cinemas by its reiterated reference to the nation, or the existence of a nation to which cinema gives shape. We also aim to confront the issue of the national cinema in Portugal. The idea of nation emerges here as problematic in the current Portuguese scenery.
