Plutarch mentions in his writings the existence of three judges, Minos, Rhadamanthys, and Aeacus. They judge people in Hades and decide whether they must be condemned in Tartarus or can live happily on the Isles of the Blessed. Rewards and punishments depend on the moral behaviour of the souls during their lives. The aim of my work is to analyze the background against which Plutarch elaborates his idea of justice in the Netherworld. He suits and reworks traditional motifs but also leaves a personal mark on his netherworldly imagery.eng
