A poética de Luís António Verney e a obra de Luís de Camões

Abstract

This study aims to perceive the linguistic and rhetorical foundation in the poetic of Luis António Verney, based on the seventh letter of the Verdadeiro Método de Estudar and those that immediately precede it. Then it is established a comprehensive exegesis of the excerpts of that letter concerning the poetry of Luís de Camões, trying to discern the reasons why this Enlightenment thinker opted for the refusal of epic poetry.

Ensaia-se neste estudo perceber o fundamento linguístico e retórico da poética de Luís António Verney, tendo por base a carta sétima do Verdadeiro Método de Estudar e as que imediatamente a precedem. Estabelece-se depois uma exegese compreensiva dos passos dessa carta relativos à poesia de Luís de Camões, tentando discernir as razões pelas quais o pensador iluminista optou pela negação da poesia do épico.
