Abstract: Cataldus Siculus who introduced Italian Humanism into the Portuguese Royal Court before the end of the XVth century is here studied in his correspondence with some of his countrymen, as detailed in the first volume of his Epistolae et Orationes Quaedam, published in Lisbon in the year 1500. The author is concerned specially with Cataldus’ stormy friendship with Aurelio Brandolini, nicknamed Lippo.
