Abstract

The author first of all defines his subject and he reaches the conclusion that there is a lyrical unity in which love and nature are supremely fused. Then he proceeds to demonstrate the errors of past research that tend to confine Virgil to the reduced world of Theocritus’ poetry. Finally he studies the stylistic means by which love is expressed in Virgil’s Bucolics.
