Los dioses indígenas en el Noroeste de Portugal

Abstract

En la región noroccidental de Portugal han sido halladas hasta el momento un gran número de inscripciones alusivas a divinidades indígenas; ello plantea, a primera vista, un esquema de múltiples dioses de carácter muy localizado. Sin embargo, analizando cada una de las dedicaciones se observa que la interpretación de muchas de ellas es poco fiable, por lo que el número de teónimos indígenas seguros se reduce drásticamente hasta adquirir un carácter semejante al de otras regiones de la Hispania indoeuropea.

In the north-western region of Portugal, a large number of inscriptions alluding to indigenous gods have been discovered to date. At first sight, this gives rise to a system of multiple local gods. However, by analysing each of the dedications it can be seen that the interpretation of many of these is not very reliable. Therefore, the number of definite indigenous gods is drastically reduced to such a point that it is similar to that of the other Indo-European Hispanic regions.
