Landscape archaeology & employment policies: memoria collettiva e prospettive occupazionali nel paesaggio archeologico dell’Emilia-Romagna (Italia)

Abstract

The ancient landspace that preserves the identity of a country can drive growth and employment. The historical landspace is the guideline to build and give meaning to the modern landspace. In order to obtain this, it is needed to create professional employees that are able to give back voice to a territory, that transformed by constructions connected to the industrialisation has been left speechless, and transform the collective memory in collective conscience. Generally, the challenge is arduous in Italy. Particularly in industrialised areas such as Emilia Romagna where the archeological landscape is often invisible under the modern towns. However, several studies of urban topography have demonstrated how large the pool of knowledge would be available if human resources would be invested and if the dignity of the places could mean also dignity of labour.

Il paesaggio antico, che conserva l’identità di un paese, può, proprio per questo, rappresentare anche un volano per la crescita e le prospettive di occupazione del paese stesso. Il paesaggio storico è, infatti, la linea guida che orienta e dà significato alla costruzione del paesaggio moderno. Per far questo, serve creare figure professionali capaci di restituire voce ad un territorio che le trasformazioni edilizie connesse all’industrializzazione hanno reso muto e di trasformare la memoria collettiva in coscienza collettiva. La sfida è ardua in generale in Italia e in particolare nei contesti industrializzati, come l’Emilia-Romagna, dove il paesaggio archeologico è spesso invisibile sotto le città moderne e dove, tuttavia, svariati studi di topografia urbana hanno dimostrato quale serbatoio di conoscenza sarebbe disponibile se si investissero risorse umane e se dignità dei luoghi potesse significare anche dignità del lavoro.
