Throughout the history of mankind, death during childhood has been a recurrent experience. The texts and Greek monuments, such as those discussed in this paper, also bear witness to that reality. Divided into two parts, this study focuses on the analysis of two different sources, an Attic epitaph of the Classical period, preserved with its grave stele, and a Hellenistic epigram from book VII of the Palatine Anthology, both dedicated to children and related with the death of siblings during childhood. Among other aspects, we discuss the language and the literary processes used by poets, and also the prevailing themes in these funerary compositions.eng
