Title: | A propósito da pátera de Bandis Aravgelensis | Other Titles: | On the roman patera to Bandis Aravgelensis | Authors: | Alarcão, Jorge de | Keywords: | Bandis;roman patera;Bandis;pátera romana | Issue Date: | 2016 | Publisher: | Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra/Imprensa da Universidade de Coimbra | Abstract: | Na pátera do Museo Nacional de Arte Romano (Mérida) consagrada a Bandis Araugelensis, a figura feminina representada tem sido considerada como a do próprio deus indígena. On the silver patera of the Museo Nacional de Arte Romano (Mérida) dedicated to Bandis Araugelensis, the female figure with a towered crown has been considered as the representation of that native god. However, by his surnames, Bandis is a god, not a goddess. It is here suggested that the female figure of the patera corresponds not to the god, but to the locality of Araocelum, allegorically represented as a female figure sacrificing to the god. |
