El Estado Novo y la propaganda de la "Revolución" falangista en Portugal

Abstract

A aliança não escrita entre o Estado Novo de Oliveira Salazar e a "nova" Espanha franquista foi forjada nos anos agitados da Guerra Civil espanhola (1936-1939), quando as instituições autoritárias do regime português se revelaram propensas não só a contribuir para uma resolução favorável do conflito de acordo com os interesses do General Franco, mas também a promover os ideais e os princípios "revolucionários" da Falange Espanhola, que era a organização política que estruturou ideologicamente a ditadura franquista em Espanha. Os intelectuais de prestígio que se identificaram com o movimento falangista, como Wenceslado Fernández Flórez, contaram com a colaboração do Secretariado de Propaganda Nacional e da imprensa lusa para difundir em Portugal os novos valores da "Revolução" espanhola.

The unwritten alliance between the New State of Oliveira Salazar and the "new" Franquist Spain was made in the troubled years of the Spanish Civil War (1936- -1939), when the authoritarian institutions of the Portuguese regime were more prone not only to help in a favourable resolution of the conflict in General Franco's interests, but also to promote the "revolutionary" ideals and principles of the Spanish Falange, which was the political organisation that ideologically structured the Franquist dictatorship in Spain. The prestigious intellectuals that supported the Falangist movement, such as Wenceslado Fernández Flórez, counted on the collaboration of the Secretariat of National Propaganda and on the Portuguese press to disseminate in Portugal the new values of the Spanish "Revolution".
