Le traduzioni del de audiendo di Plutarco in età umanistica

Abstract

The paper analyzes Plutarch’s De audiendo, identifying some problematic loci where some of the modern editors have put the cruces desperationis, despite the consensus codicum. We compare the sixteenth-century Latin translations written by Calphurnius (Giovanni Calfurnio, 1505), Paceus (Richard Pace, 1522) and Luscinius (Otmar Nachtigall, 1541) to show how the Humanists faced these problematic loci.

Il contributo verte sull’esame di alcuni passi del De audiendo di difficile esegesi e perciò posti tra cruces desperationis da alcuni fra gli editori moderni, nonostante i testi in questione siano sostenuti dal consensus codicum. Di tali passi sono poste a confronto le traduzioni realizzate nel XVI secolo da Calfurnio (Giovanni Calfurnio, 1505), Paceus (Richard Pace, 1522) e Luscinius (Otmar Nachtigall, 1541) al fine di evidenziare in che modo questi luoghi ostici fossero affrontati in età umanistica.
