dc.description.abstract | In the last years, the best world specialists in military medieval art have discussed tactic procedures which were adopted by XI, XII and XIII commanders in the battlefield. Their attention has been particularly focused on questions such as the charge of heavy cavalry and the use of both infantry and archers with bow or crossbows. This study takes into account 20 concrete study cases, chosen among the most representative battles in our particular period (Hastings 1066 - Maes Madog - 1295). Our aim is to extract a group of pertinent conclusions, able to clarify the question of dominant tactic models before the so-called "infantry revolution", which started with the famous battle of Courtrai (Flanders, 1302). | eng |
