A importância de Paulo Freire hoje e sempre

Abstract

Taking into account the modern currents in the Latin‑American pedagogy, this paper addresses a reflection on Paulo Freire’s pedagogy, highlighting the significative connection between this pedagogy and youth and adult education. Three moments are in evidence: the past, which is recovered through the insertion of Freire’s thinking in the historical chain of Latin America; the present, that is reviewed in the claims brought by Freire’s pedagogy to the social field; and the everlasting, which is built in ways of possibility opened by Paulo Freire’s contributions to the thinking on the education.

Tendo em conta as correntes de modernidade no ambiente pedagógico latino‑americano, este texto propõe uma reflexão sobre o ideário freireano, relevando a conexão significativa de Paulo Freire com a educação de jovens e adultos. Os momentos temporais aqui aludidos têm em consideração o passado, revisto a partir da inserção do pensamento freireano na corrente histórica da América Latina; o presente, traduzido nas revindicações trazidas pela pedagogia freireana para o campo social; e o sempre, construído a partir dos caminhos de possibilidade abertos pelas contribuições de Paulo Freire para o pensamento sobre a educação.
