Incêndios florestais no Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela: quadro físico-geográfico da sua ocorrência

Abstract

A problemática dos incêndios florestais exige uma análise integrada do território onde deflagram. Terão de se estudar as condições climáticas e meteorológicas favoráveis à sua eclosão/propagação, mas também os suportes físicos (características litológicas, morfológicas, biogeográficas e outras) favoráveis ao seu desenvolvimento. Assim, no presente artigo faz-se a caracterização territorial das áreas afectadas pelos incêndios de maiores dimensões registados no Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela (PNSE), desde 1989 até 1999. Ao se reconhecerem as circunstâncias físico-naturais que alimentam as chamas, torna-se mais fácil prevenir e combater a sua manifestação, pois é possível distinguir os incêndios que exibem atributos para uma rápida consolidação dos focos cuja probabilidade de progredirem são inferiores.

La problématique des incendies forestiers exige une analyse intégrée du territoire où atteint. Il foudra analyser les conditions climatiques et météorologiques favorables à leur éclosion/propagation, mais aussi les supports physiques (caractéristiques lithologiques, morphologiques, biogéographiques et autres) favorables à leur développement. Dans cet article nous faisons la caractérisation territoriale des zones affectées par les incendies des plus grandes dimensions registrées dans le Parc Naturel de Serra da Estrela (PNSE), depuis de 1989 jusque 1999. Si nous reconnaissons les circonstances physico-naturelles qui alimentent les flammes, prévenir et combattre leur manifestation devient plus facile puisqu'il est ainsi possible de repérer les incendies qui exhibent les caractéristiques par une rapide consolidation des foyers dont les probabilités de progresser sont inférieures.

The problematics of forest fires calls for a comprehensive, integrated analysis of the area where such fires occur. Therefore one has to study not only a meteorological conditions that allow fires to start and spread, but also the physical basis (such as lithologic, morphologic, biogeographic and other traits) that allows them to thrive. Based on the premises, a territorial characterization is made in the present article of the areas affected by a largest forest fires occurred in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park (PNSE) during the period 1989-1999. When on becomes better acquainted whit the physical and natural conditions that feed the flames, it becomes easier both to prevent and to tight their actual manifestation, for it then also becomes easier to tell tires that are prone to fast consolidation from those evincing a weaker potential for growth.
