This text address the debate to the meanings of the return of corporatism issue to the studies on contemporary History, in general, and to the Portuguese New State´s History, in particular. Looking for an hermeneutic of corporatism as a historical concept, this essay highlights the strong connection between the corporatist ideology and the fascisms from the inter-war period, considering the double perspective of the “fascist-movement” and those of the “fascist-regimes”. Refusing the a-historic perspectives of corporatism, we put in evidence its instrumental goals.eng
