Abstract: O presente artigo aborda a relação entre a democracia e a educação na Argentina durante o período compreendido entre 1983, com a reposição da democracia, e o momento cia universitária, no contexto de crise social e política dos finais do século XIX e princípios do século XX. Com base nos resultados de uma investigação focada na experiência atual, e fá-lo-á a partir da perspetiva das ciências sociais e do pensamento educativo, considerando as transformações pelas quais o referido sistema passou. A presente abordagem focarse- á nas tensões e dicotomias que o ensino superior enfrentou durante o chamado ciclo democrático pós-ditatorial, tendo em conta as novas características da tradição universitária argentina e a emergência de novos sentidos aplicados à democraestudantil e em narrativas biográficas, o presente artigo pretende aprofundar as mudanças nas filiações e identificações sociais, na vida institucional e na participação política.
Cet article est une approche de la relation entre la démocratie et l'éducation en Argentine pendant la période commençant en 1983, l'année de la transition démocratique, et jusqu'à présent, dans la perspective des sciences sociales et de la pensée éducative, en tenant compte des transformations subies par le système éducatif. L'article fait particulièrement référence aux tensions et aux dilemmes que l'enseignement supérieur a dû traverser au cours dudit cycle démocratique post-dictature, en tenant compte des caractéristiques acquises par la tradition universitaire en Argentine et de l'émergence de nouvelles significations à propos de la démocratie universitaire en situation de crise sociale et politique de la fin du XIXe et début du XXe siècle. Les changements des appartenances et des identifications sociales, dans la vie institutionnelle et dans la participation politique, ont été approfondis à partir des résultats d'une recherche menée sur l'expérience des étudiants, basée sur des récits biographiques.
This paper addresses the link between democracy and education in Argentina during the cycle beginning in 1983 - since the recovery of democracy until now - from the viewpoint of social sciences and educational thought, considering the changes experienced by the educational system. It focuses particularly on the tensions and dilemmas which challenged higher education during the designated post-dictatorship democratic cycle, considering the features that Argentinian university tradition acquired and the new meanings of university democracy arising in the context of the social and political crisis in the late 19th and early 20th century. From the findings of a research conducted into the experience of students, biographical narratives, it explores further the changes in the social identities, institutional life and political participation.
