A vida no arame: a mediatização do risco

Abstract

As imagens que nos entram em casa todos os dias, tal como as nossas leituras da imprensa tendem a gerar um estranho sentido de risco permanente, como se a nossa vida estivesse continuamente no arame. Para compreender isto recorre-se, por um lado, aos contributos do sociólogo Ulrich Beck, em cujo trabalho os media ocupam um lugar relevante, e, por outro lado, a uma vasta literatura sobre o funcionamento dos media. Por fim, fazem-se algumas breves considerações sobre a forma como tem sido vistas situações de risco cobertas pelos média em Portugal.

Les images entrant à la maison touts les jours, aussi bien que la lecture de la presse ont la tendance à créer un étrange sens de risque permanent, comme se notre vie était sur un fil en continu. Pour comprendre ça on fait appel aux contributions du sociologue Ulrich Beck, dont le travail met l'accent dans l'importance des media, et de la même façon à la bibliographie sur le fonctionnement des media. Enfin, on fait quelques considérations sur la façon comme les situations de risque sont envisagées par les media au Portugal.

The images entering every day in our houses and the lecture of the press as well are giving an idea of permanent risk, as if our life was always on the wire. In order to understand this we appeal, on one hand, to the contributions of the sociologist Ulrich Beck, which work has media in an important place, and, on the other hand, to the bibliography about the way of working of media. Finally, some considerations are produced about the way situations of risk are covered by media in Portugal.
