Abstract: The WindNinja surface wind modeling tool is being used throughout the world to support wildland fire management. It continues to be updated and improved. Recent improvements include the capability to initialize simulations based on meso-scale weather forecast data or direct observations, an improved tool for accessing elevation data, and access to a momentum solver. This paper describes current status of the tool and planned enhancements.
