Abstract: This paper explores the influence of drama in Suetonius' De Vita Cassar um. On one hand, Suetonius' biographíc technique permits to relate his writing to the notion of "tragic history". We can find in “Lives” tragic characteristics, in the way of Aristotelian theorization or tragic tradition and a progression towards an outcome. On the other hand Suetonius makes use of comic deformation and several passages seem to reveal mime's influence. So it is also possible that some narratives have been transposed by Suetonius sources from dramatic plots or have suffered a contamination process.
